U.S. Navy Warship has discovered and seized a multitude of what is believed to be Iranian missile parts; US officials report that they believe the missile components were en route for Houthi fighters in Yemen; Official: A more thorough investigation is underway.
On Wednesday, US officials announced that on November 25, a US warship seized a host of advanced missile parts from a boat they stopped in the Arabian Sea. Though it is still early in the investigation, evidence quickly pointed to the fact that these missile parts were of Iranian origin and making their way to Houthi fighters in Yemen.
This is a serious find, as Israel, the United States, and other countries in the region have been expecting Iranian aggression to grow, anticipating an imminent attack on the Jewish state. A US official stated that “a more thorough investigation is underway.”
Furthermore, a unique concern in this circumstance, according to a US official, is the advanced nature of these missile parts. Seizure of Iranian weaponry heading to Yemen is something that has happened in the past, but to find something like this is reported to be next-level. The US has sent approximately 14,000 troops to the region since May with the hopes of keeping Iran in check, but the Pentagon reportedly is still expecting severe action from Iran at any point.
