Monday, multiple rockets targeted a US oil Company’s personnel in the southern region of Iraq known as the Burjesia area of the Basra province. It’s reported that this is the first time in nearly a year that US oil interests have been targeted in the region after the rockets landed near the site of Halliburton.

It’s reported that approximately five rockets were found near the oil site. Upon further investigation, nearly a dozen more as well as the rocket launcher were located near the Zubair-Shuaiba road and disarmed. While no one has taken immediate responsibility for the failed attack, there’s no question regarding the rising tension between the US, Iran, and pro-Iranian militias in the region.

During the last rocket attack on US oil personnel, which dates back to June, multiple workers were injured and the compound was evacuated.

Officials say that today’s attack has not halted their production.
