Lawmakers introduced bi-partisan legislature this week to provide Israel with key weaponry amid Iran’s growing nuclear agenda.

Despite the political tension that currently exists in the United States, lawmakers from both sides have introduced legislature that would result in the US providing its number-one ally in the Middle East with the notorious bunker-buster bomb(s). This bill would also require that the Pentagon communicate with Israel and report to Congress.

US Representatives Josh Gottheimer (D – NJ) and Brian Mast (R – FL) both see this as an opportunity to provide Israel with the necessary means to confront the ever-growing aggression coming from the Iranian regime and its nuclear agenda.

Additionally, the two have mutual concerns when it comes to the potential sale of F-35s to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) following its normalization of ties with Israel. And providing Israel with a weapon like the bunker-buster ensures that they always have the military advantage in the Middle East.

Gottheimer stated, “There should be absolutely no doubt that our ally Israel must be prepared for every contingency if Iran seeks … a nuclear weapon.” The bunker-buster, or Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP), weighs in at 30,000 pounds and is designed to do exactly what it sounds like – penetrate well-protected areas and eliminate the target(s) within them.
