US forces were reportedly targeted by another drone attack inside Syria early this week; Iranian-sponsored fighters are responsible for the strikes.
On Monday, the Al-Tanf US military base in Syria was targeted in a drone attack carried out by Iranian-backed militias in the region. Al-Tanf is located in the southeastern corner of Syria where the country meets with Iraq and Jordan, and both Iraq and Syria have witnessed a host of drone attacks at the hands of Iranian-backed militants in the region this year.
According to reports, no casualties occurred in the incident. Al-Tanf is strategically located in order for US forces to train Syrian opposition fighters in their battle against the Islamic State of Iraq & Syria (ISIS).
It is possible that Monday’s attack – which failed to result in any damage – was an Iranian response to Israeli airstrikes inside of Syria over the weekend.
