President Trump’s nomination to replace Nikki Haley appeared before Congress on Wednesday; Craft commits to continue US efforts at the UN to combat anti-Israel bias and anti-Semitism; “There will be no stronger ally than Kelly Craft for Israel on behalf of the United States…”
President Trump’s nomination for Ambassador to the UN, Kelly Craft, appeared before the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations on Wednesday where she vowed to continue the Trump Administration’s fight against Israel bias. Craft, who currently serves as the United States’ Ambassador to Canada, was nominated by President Trump on May 2, 2019, to replace former US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley. Haley, who is considered to be one of Israel’s greatest advocates to date, resigned from her post at the end of 2018.
Directly addressing the United States impeccable work fighting the UN’s Israel agenda, Craft stated before the committee hearing, “Without US leadership, our partners and allies would be vulnerable to bad actors at the UN. This is particularly true in the case of Israel, which is the subject of unrelenting bias and hostility in UN venues.” She reiterated that “the United States will never accept such bias, ” adding, “if confirmed, I commit to seizing every opportunity to shine a light on this conduct, call it what it is, and demand that these outrageous practices finally come to an end.”
As the US Ambassador to the UN, she claimed “there will be no stronger ally than Kelly Craft for Israel on behalf of the United States,” reemphasizing “there is no room whatsoever for anti-Israel bias or anti-Semitism… I am certain that we can defeat any areas whether it’s a human rights council and bringing up anti-Israel bias every opportunity they have, or any place in the UN, there is no place for that.”
In her final address to the United Nations Security Council in December 2018, Haley for the last time in her role condemned the United Nations inherent anti-Israel bias and Palestinian victimhood. She stated at the time, “This UN obsession has been entirely unproductive. It’s actually worse than that. The UN’s obsession with this issue has been counterproductive. It has sent a loud and false message to the Palestinians that they just might be able to achieve their goals by relying on the UN, rather than through direct negotiations. And it has sent a loud and accurate message to the Israelis that they can never trust the UN. This biased obsession is not the path to peace. It is the path to an endless stalemate.”
