After weeks of closure, the Western Wall has reopened; For several weeks, only individuals who live in the Old City could visit the wall in very limited numbers; The Israeli government will now allow hundreds of people at a time with health guidelines; Netanyahu announces no limits on gathering size come mid-June.

For several weeks, the Western Wall has remained closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the individuals who could visit this historical site during its closure included only those who reside in the Old City of Jerusalem. And even then, officials would only allow 10-19 people at a time.

As restrictions are now being eased, reports suggest that up to 300 people will now be able to access the site that Jews hold so dear. Though the restrictions are being eased, there will still be health guidelines in place. All visitors will be required to wear a mask, have their temperature taken upon entry, and record their personal data in some sort of an entry journal.

Earlier this week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced plans to gradually reduce limitations on gathering size up until June 14, when he expects all gathering limitations to be removed.
