In what is believed to be a plotted attack on oil resources in northern Lebanon, a significant fire broke out on Friday in several places after multiple holes were drilled in the pipeline. The fire broke out in Akkar on a pipeline that connects Lebanon to Iraq.
The fire was eventually extinguished thanks to Lebanese civil defense teams, but not before creating a very concerning situation that resulted in all sorts of oil chemicals and materials making their way into water resources and other civilian areas. According to one report, special materials were required to put out the fires.
Teams have been deployed to repair the pipeline while the search for those responsible continues.
