The Trump administration has high hopes for direct flights between the two countries after brokering diplomatic agreements between Israel and several neighboring countries.
After brokering diplomatic agreements between Israel and several countries in the region in recent weeks, the White House is now encouraged by the prospect of direct flights between Israel and the African country of Morocco. Israel has experienced newfound relationships in the last few weeks with Bahrain, Kosovo, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Like the previous countries to normalize their ties with Israel, Morocco has informally partnered with the Jewish State in several ways, especially intelligence, despite not having a formal relationship. However, if direct flights between the two countries do become a reality, it’s possible that their overall relationship could take an even greater turn.
At this time, Morocco, though considered to be an ally of the United States, remains strong in its stance that it will not normalize its ties with the Jewish State despite US pressure. Morocco is home to the largest Jewish community in the Arab world.
