Israeli Intelligence releases information regarding the spotting of a Russian submarine off the coast of Israel approximately three months ago; Reports indicate that the submarine ‘breached Israel’s territorial waters; There is concern over what this could mean for the future.
In a newly released report, Israeli intelligence has notified the public that a Russian submarine vessel was spotted off of the coast of Tel Aviv approximately three months ago, breaching Israeli waters. Further concerns remain as to what amount of security may have been compromised. It’s worth noting that submarines are primarily used for intelligence gathering.
The IDF is said to have communicated with their Russian contacts after the sighting, which led to the departure of the Russian vessel from the area. However, there remains a concern as to the future implications of this event. Russian President Vladimir Putin has been making Russia’s presence known in the Middle East in recent years, primarily in Syria. In fact, Russian soldiers have been spotted in southern Syria, from the Golan Heights in Israel.
Why Does it Even Matter?
We can take this a step further and say that what is happening here has incredible implications! Even the Israeli media is reading into this revelation, believing it to be a serious concern. They’re concerned about what Russia’s next move might be after the Syrian conflict is resolved, assuming it will be resolved.
Over 2500 years ago, God spoke through the prophet Ezekiel as to what inevitably is going to happen regarding Russia and the nation of Israel (see Ezekiel 38). We are seeing the stage being set now more than ever. Russia is starving for oil with a hurting economy, which may be suffering even more after they’re finished in Syria. Israel is now sitting on more oil resources than their enemies can imagine.
While we do know that the invasion will be for economic purposes, we don’t know what the ‘triggering point’ will be. As we see these events falling into place, may the Christian continue to look up and speak out, heeding the call of the watchman:
Ezekiel 33:1-6
Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, speak to the children of your people, and say to them: ‘When I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from their territory and make him their watchman, when he sees the sword coming upon the land, if he blows the trumpet and warns the people, then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet and does not take warning, if the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be on his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet, but did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But he who takes warning will [a]save his life. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.’
