US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has put Iran on notice after their proxies attacked and injured approximately five Iraqi soldiers; The attack is reported to have taken place near the Baghdad International Airport.

In a warning issued to the “leadership” of Iran after the country’s attack on Iraqi soldiers from Iranian-backed proxies, United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo tweeted, “We strongly condemn the Iranian proxy attack that wounded five Iraqi soldiers near the Baghdad Airport this week. To Iran’s leaders – the U.S. will respond decisively if Iran or its proxies harm U.S. personnel or our Iraqi partners.”

The United States has been monitoring Iran far closer in 2019 due to its growing aggression in the Middle East. Iran is responsible for several attacks throughout the Middle East this year, often carried out by their proxies that spread as far as the Mediterranean coastline. In addition to their attacks on Iraqi civilians and soldiers in recent times, they’re also getting to close for comfort regarding US military troops. Pompeo added to his comments, stating, “We must also use this opportunity to remind Iran’s leaders that any attacks by them or their proxies of any identity that harm Americans, our allies or our interests will be answered with a decisive US response.”
