Israel praises Paraguay in their decision to recognize both Hamas & Hezbollah, Iranian proxies, as terrorist organizations; Villamayor claims the decision was in line with protecting human rights; Katz: We will continue working on getting more countries to designate these orgs as terrorist orgs.
In an effort to combat the spread of terror, not only in the Middle East but worldwide, President Mario Abdo Benitez of Paraguay has officially recognized Hamas & Hezbollah, Iranian proxies, as terrorist organizations. FM Katz also chimed in, stating, “This recognition contributes to the joint international struggle against the terror of Hamas, Hezbollah, and their chief benefactor, Iran. I call upon more states to join Paraguay and recognize these organizations as ones of terror. We will continue to work tirelessly, so organizations of this nature are recognized as terror organizations. The entire world must unite as one in the fight against the terror that Iran and their disciples spread,”.
Interior Minister Juan Ernesto Villamayor defended this decision, arguing that it was consistent with work being done by the United Nations and other international treaties that aim to protect human rights.
Paraguay’s move makes them the second nation to follow suit, as Argentina was the first Latin American country to make this recognition approx. a month prior. Brazil is also contemplating the same decision, which is being encouraged strongly by the US in an attempt to combat terror on a global scale and limit the foreign financial aid to these organizations. The primary fear of Brazilian President, Jair Bolsonaro, is economical in nature, as Iran imports $2.5 billion of Brazilian products annually.
PM Netanyahu welcomed the decision and stated, “We are working so that more countries will also take this important step.”
