Numerous Palestinians began clashing with Israeli security forces on Friday; The Palestinians reportedly stored up an arsenal of stones inside mosques in the immediate area; Clashes were expected amid Passover and the Muslim observance of Ramadan.
PASSOVER EVE – Jewish worshippers at the Western Wall on Friday were interrupted by Palestinians throwing stones as the observance of Passover is underway. Following the recent terror attacks by Palestinians from the West Bank (Judea & Samaria), attacks over Passover were anticipated. Israeli forces have arrested several people in the West Bank associated with terror plots over the last few days – some of which were plotting attacks this weekend.
Provocation from the Palestinians was expected due to it being the month of Ramadan, which is historically utilized as motive for an increase in violence from the Muslim community.
Local Palestinians had reportedly stored up no shortage of stones inside nearby mosques, including the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in preparation to carry out Friday’s acts of violence. However, Israeli security forces would shortly respond on the Temple Mount, resulting in well over 100 Palestinian injuries. According to at least one source, the Israeli Police claimed to have arrested “hundreds” of people on Friday.
Eventually, the police entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque after the clashes concluded.
There is concern regarding a response from Gaza – which would likely include several rockets being launched – as approximately 4,800 rockets were launched last May after clashes surfaced on the Temple Mount.
