US President Donald Trump spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday regarding a possible defense treaty after the Israeli elections; Trump: I had a call today with Prime Minster Netanyahu to discuss the possibility of moving forward with a mutual defense treaty, between the United States and Israel; IDF: The capabilities of the Adir Squadron add another tier to the operational and strategic capabilities of the Air Force.
On Saturday, just ahead of the Israeli elections to take place next week, President Trump tweeted, “I had a call today with Prime Minister Netanyahu to discuss the possibility of moving forward with a Mutual Defense Treaty, between the United States and Israel, that would further anchor the tremendous alliance between our two countries…I look forward to continuing those discussions after the Israeli Elections when we meet at the United Nations later this month!”
The relationship between Israel and the United States has perhaps never been stronger. Additionally, two new F-35 stealth fighter jets are making their way to Nevatim air base now and are set to arrive on Sunday.
In July, Israel received two F-35’s from the United States. Upon arrival, the IDF stated, “The ongoing procurement of the Adir is another expression of the long-term military cooperation between Israel and the US, which continues to produce exceptional results in the process of strengthening and streamlining.” Adir is the formal Israeli title given to the F-35. The Adir, or F-35, is highly praised for its ability to remain undetected in hostile air zones. If they remain on schedule, the Israeli Air Force intends to have 34 F-35’s by 2024, allowing them to form two full squadrons. As to the significance of the squadrons, the IDF also said, “The capabilities of the Adir Squadron add another tier to the operational and strategic capabilities of the air force, which ensures the air force’s superiority in all its missions, namely the protection and safety of the State of Israel’s skies,”.
As the hostile relationship between Israel and Iran continues to rise (and the US as well), this military relationship will become all the more significant. Iran is daily seeking opportunity for terror. With this, they’re also provoking other ally’s to Israel and the US. This can be seen in the fact that they are behind the recent drone strikes in Saudi Arabia within the last 24 hours. Iranian-backed terrorists out of Yemen struck the world’s number one oil production facility inside of Saudi Arabia, causing fires that are reported to have forced the Saudi’s to reduce their oil production at an unprecedented rate. This action won’t come without a reaction.
