Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has proposed an increase in air-defense systems; Proposal surfaced during cabinet meeting on Sunday and comes in the wake of growing Iranian aggression; Netanyahu: Anyone with eyes in his head can see that Iran is getting stronger.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proposed an increased budget for air-defense purposes amid the growing Iranian aggression; namely, they’re recent attack inside of Saudi Arabia, using drones and cruise missiles. The increase in funds would reportedly cost ‘billions’ of shekels, which likely wouldn’t fully come to fruition until after a government is formed, assuming there will be no third election.
One of the possibilities that Netanyahu is threatened by is that Iran will use a recently reported assassination attempt as an excuse to attack Israel. Iran claims that there was a recent foiled assassination attempt on the Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, Qasem Soleimani. Even if there was an attempt, there hasn’t been any evidence to prove that Israel is responsible.
In making his case before the cabinet, PM Netanyahu stated, “Today, we are facing a huge security challenge, which has grown with each passing week and has intensified over the last two months… Anyone with eyes in his head can see that Iran is getting stronger,”.
