Israel’s elite intelligence organization prevented a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from killing an Israeli official working in Turkey; The terrorist had three targets on their hitlist.

Recent reports revealed that an Iranian plot to assassinate an Israeli official was thwarted by a member of Israel’s elite intelligence community, the Mossad. The delegate currently works at the Israel Consulate in Istanbul and was one of three targets on the terrorist’s hitlist. The other two include a senior US General in Germany and a journalist located in France.

The initial report surfaced from a London-based news outlet, Iran International. According to the outlet, the IRGC “has commissioned one of its agents to assassinate an Israeli employee of the country’s consulate in Istanbul.” The reports that followed revealed that the terrorist belonged to the IRGC’s Quds Force, which is known for its international, clandestine operations.

Ynet was the first Israeli report to break the news, and they reported that the IRGC suspect admitted to being sent $150,000 to carry out the assassinations, and that he’d receive an additional $1 million upon fulfilling the jobs. The suspect is currently being held in an undisclosed country in Europe.

The IRGC was designated as a terrorist organization by the former US Trump administration in 2019.
