PET refuses to comment on reports that Mossad provided intelligence that foiled attack; Iran denies involvement, accuses Mossad of “perverse and stubborn planting of false flags”; Denmark recalls ambassador to Iran.

Israel’s Mossad provided Denmark with intelligence on an Iranian assassination plot on Danish soil.

A senior official confirmed on Wednesday to the media that the Mossad, Israel’s national intelligence agency, aided Denmark in thwarting an assassination plot on three Iranian members of the anti-regime movement, Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahvaz, in Denmark. The intelligence led to the arrest of an Iranian terror cell and foiled a planned attack on Iranian “terrorists”.

The intelligence was provided to Denmark’s security agency, PET, earlier this month. They denied any comment on the events.

Iran denied any involvement, its Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif taking to Twitter on Wednesday claiming “Mossad’s perverse and stubborn planting of false flags… only strengthens our resolve to engage constructively with the world.”

Denmark recalled its ambassador to Iran, Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen confirming “Denmark can in no way accept that people with ties to Iran’s intelligence service plot attacks against people in Denmark… It is the Iranian government, it is the Iranian state that is behind this plot.” They also announced intentions to place more sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

The Mossad continues to provide intelligence to European agencies and governments, thwarting hundreds or terror plots and attacks in Europe.
