Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is reportedly discussing a potential missile sale to Morocco; The possible deal would result in the African country receiving the Barak 8 missile defense system.
According to at least one recent report, Morocco has expressed strong interest in Israel’s elite Barak 8 missile defense system, which has a longstanding reputation for eliminating enemy projectiles. Israel Aerospace Industries (ISI) is currently discussing a potential sale with the northwestern African country. Nothing has been finalized yet.
IAI, which co-produced the Barak 8 with India’s Defense Research & Development Organization (DRDO), has not released a statement on the report. Regardless, according to recent satellite images, Morocco has been preparing for a missile defense system.
The Barak 8 is a surface-to-air missile often used for Israeli naval defense purposes. It can take down a variety of airtime threats, including enemy planes, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), and more.
Morocco joined the Abraham Accords in 2020, which was designed to strengthen ties between the Jewish State and the Arab world. The US Trump administration implemented the Accords in 2020, today consisting of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco.
