An Iranian vessel known as the MV SAVIZ was targeted in the Red Sea on Tuesday, resulting in an explosion on the ship below the waterline; As of Wednesday, reports are suggesting that Israel has admitted to attacking the ship in response to previous Iranian aggression.

Following the most recent maritime attack on an Iranian cargo vessel in the Red Sea on Tuesday, at least one report has surfaced that an individual out of Israel has acknowledged that the Jewish State’s military forces were behind the attack, which resulted in an explosion below the waterline. Israel is believed to have planted a mine on the ship.

Tuesday’s attack resulted in minor damage. And as noted by The Times of Israel, “A US official told The New York Times that Israel notified the US that Israeli forces attacked the ship around 7:30 a.m. local time on Tuesday. The anonymous US official said Israel called the strike a retaliation, and that the ship had been hit below the waterline.”

The MV SAVIZ is the ship of interest and is believed by the US and other countries in the region to be a cover for Iranian intelligence gathering – or spying – according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. According to the report, this ship has been in the area since 2017.
