Reports indicate that the leader of Al Qaeda is ‘likely’ to have been killed as the result of a US airstrike earlier in January; His death is not yet confirmed according to several sources; The US had issued a $10 million reward for Al-Rimi
The United States military now believes that they’ve killed Al Qaeda terrorist leader Qassim Al-Rimi as a result of an airstrike they carried out earlier in January inside of Yemen. At one point, the US government had issued a $10 million reward for Al-Rimi. While they’re confident of his death, sources say that the kill has not been confirmed.
Al-Rimi took over the reins for Al Qaeda after the US killed former leader Nasir al-Wuhayshi in a drone strike nearly four years ago. He’s responsible for several attacks against US entities. Al-Rimi’s Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) is believed to be one of the most dangerous sects of the terror organization to this day.
