The prestigious Aerospace Industries completes two successful missile launches from the water, striking both of the designated floating targets; The missile system being used is dubbed ‘LORA’.

Long-Range Artillery Weapon System, or LORA – this is what Israel’s Aerospace Industries (IAI) successfully launched on Tuesday, striking both designated floating targets. At sea, IAI first successfully hit a target that was located over 50 miles away. This was followed by another successful strike on a target that was over 250 miles away.

According to IAI, “Under both scenarios, the missile was launched to its trajectory, navigated its course to the target, and hit it with utmost precision. Both the weapon system and the missile successfully met all of the trial’s objectives.”

Though launched from a ship at sea, the missiles were fired from someone on land.

The firm within IAI that developed the LORA missile is also responsible for other popular Israeli defense missile systems such as the Arrow 2 & 3, as well as the Barak 8. The LORA is said to be accurate within approximately 30 feet. And while only Israel and Azerbaijan utilize the LORA as of right now, IAI has an interest in supplying it to other countries.

Boaz Levy, who is the Vice President of IAI and head of the Systems, Missile & Space Group, stated, “The complex trial, performed under COVID-19 limitations, demonstrated the advanced capabilities of both IAI and LORA, our strategic missile system. The trial was executed according to a fully functional design, which tested the system’s maneuvering, strike, and precision, as well as technological developments and enhancements introduced by our engineers.”
