The attack is said to have killed at least five Iranian-sponsored fighters, both foreign and of Syrian nationality; Nearly a dozen individuals were wounded; Structural damage also reported.

Late Monday evening, Israel conducted a strike on Iranian-backed forces near Damascus, Syria. And as is normal with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), they have not commented on the incident. While several of the projectiles are reported to have been intercepted by Syrian air defense systems, several of them struck their targets, leading to several casualties.

Structural damage is also reported in the attack.

The militias targeted in this attack belonged to the Iranian terror proxy, Hezbollah. According to several reports, among those killed were at least five Iranian-backed fighters, two of which were from Syria, and one civilian. The total of the wounded is nearly a dozen. At least one report suggests the death toll is actually eleven.

Following an incident that happened in August, the IDF stated, “The IDF sees the Syrian regime as responsible for all operations carried out in its territory and will continue to act with determination against all attacks on the sovereignty of the State of Israel.”

Tension has been on the rise between Israel and Hezbollah after several recent attempts by Hezbollah to attack Israel at the border(s), both in Lebanon and in Syria.
