Syrian air defense systems responded to incoming Israeli missiles overnight on Monday; At least one initial source reported that multiple Iranian-sponsored fighters were killed; The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) did not comment on the attack.
Iranian-sponsored military interests near Damascus were targeted overnight on Monday in the most recent Israeli strike inside Syria. Though Syrian state media denied any reports of casualties, at least five Iranian-backed fighters and Iranian engineers are reported to have been killed in addition to the structural damage that occurred.
The structure hit in the attack was an Iranian weapon factory. It was unquestionably destroyed.
As is custom – and repeatedly proven false – Syrian state media also claimed that most of the incoming Israeli missiles were shot down. The attack was facilitated via surface-to-surface missiles launched from the region of the Golan Heights.
The overnight attack was the first Israeli strike in Syria in June.
As usual, the IDF did not make any comments.
