Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announces that Israel will now require a 14-day quarantine period for all visitors; This policy is to be re-evaluated in two weeks; This is a proactive move by Netanyahu to protect Israeli citizens.

On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a tough but important announcement of Israel’s new policy of a 14-day mandatory quarantine period for all visitors. This policy is a proactive attempt at combating the coronavirus before it spreads within the Jewish State more than it already has.

While the immediate policy beginning Thursday requires a 14-day quarantine period, Netanyahu stated that it’s to be reevaluated in two weeks. Currently, thirteen US citizens are being quarantined in Bethlehem and any Israeli who returns from travelling abroad is required to self-quarantine for 14 days as well.

A decision like this isn’t easy for any country, let alone Israel, who relies on tourism as a portion of their economy. Netanyahu voiced his feelings about the policy stating, “This is a difficult decision. But it is essential for safeguarding public health, and public health comes first.”
