In recent weeks, Israel’s Defense Ministry conducted what is being praised as a successful missile defense test comprised of several of Israel’s elite missile defense systems – Arrow, David’s Sling, and Iron Dome. The tests consisted of projectiles that were launched seaside and designed to replicate a range of different enemy projectiles, including ballistic and cruise missiles.
Rafael Advanced Systems carried out the different defense tests in conjunction with the Israel Air Force (IAF) and Israel’s Navy. Israel’s Defense Ministry referred to the successful series of tests as “a critical milestone in the augmentation of Israel’s operational capabilities in defending itself against current and future threats.”
Throughout the tests, the different defense systems were even used simultaneously, proving just how advanced Israel’s multi-platform missile defense system is. Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz stated, “…the systems in this multilayered mechanism provide Israel with a top tier strategic capability, enabling us to operate effectively in every scenario.”
Additionally, Head of the Israel Missile Defense Organization (IMDO), Moshe Patel, elaborated, “Through these tests, we demonstrated that the State of Israel has a robust, multilayered capability to face various threats – cruise missiles, UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) and ballistic threats.”
The US Missile Defense Agency (USMDA) was also involved in the testing phase and voiced its admiration for the proven success of Israel’s defense systems.
