The news piece called for the destruction of Israeli facilities and ‘heavy human casualties.’
Following the killing of Iran’s leading nuclear scientist, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, on Friday, the Iranians quickly assumed Israeli involvement, and have claimed that there is strong evidence of such. And while Iranian leaders have called for significant revenge for the killing of Fakhrizadeh, one of the Islamic Republic’s news agencies took a new step in a threatening direction on Sunday.
The Keyhan news outlet posted a piece written by Iran’s Sadollah Zarei who called for an attack targeting Israel’s major port city, Haifa, in a manner that would destroy Israeli structures and also cause ‘heavy human casualties.’ He also claimed that a large-scale attack on Israel “will definitely lead to deterrence, because the United States and the Israeli regime and its agents are by no means ready to take part in a war and a military confrontation.”
Israel and US troops in the region are preparing for a potential imminent Iranian response to the killing of Fakhrizadeh, whom is believed to have been running Iran’s covert nuclear program, and is said to be nearly irreplaceable.
