Multiple Iranian-sponsored militias are reported to have been killed in Syria following an Israeli airstrike on Thursday night.
Several sites associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) were targeted in Syria on Thursday night by Israeli fighter jets. The strikes are reported to have taken place in the Hama Province, which is located in the western portion of the country. In the town of Masyaf, targets such as a military research center, missile silo, and another weapons depot were of interest.
According to Syrian media, the Syrian air defense systems were successful in intercepting most of the projectiles coming from Israeli jets via Lebanese airspace. However, in the aftermath of the strikes, it was found that at least six Iranian-backed fighters were killed.
Though Israel has not publicly taken responsibility for the strikes, the timing, strategy, and targets of interest all fit the pattern of previous Israeli strikes in the region.
