Golani Brigade eliminates four Palestinian terrorists along the Gaza Border; Palestinians armed with AK-47’s, grenades and rockets seek their way into Israeli territory; Netanyahu: Hamas is responsible for all aggression emanating from the whole of Gaza. Israel will continue to act to thwart infiltrations of its territory and attacks on our citizens; Qanoon: The Zionist occupation bears the consequences of the anger and pressure experienced by our people…

At approximately 4:00 AM on Saturday, four militants from Gaza sought to enter into Israel, armed with a host of weapons such as AK-47’s, hand grenades and RPG’s (Rocket Propelled Grenades). Reports indicate that one of the militants attempted to climb the fence and threw a hand grenade at Israeli forces upon trying to enter. IDF forces opened fire at the militants, who were able to return fire before being killed. Reports also indicate that the four men belonged to an extremist Salafi Muslim outfit and had distanced themselves from Hamas. No IDF personnel were killed in the attack.

Following the attack, a spokesman of Hamas claimed that the attack from Gaza was “an individual attack”, and that Hamas was not responsible for any of the planning. Hamas is the Islamic organization that currently governs over the Gaza strip.

Spokesman Abdel-Latif al-Qanoon stated, “The occupation is responsible for the state of anger and pressure inflicted on our people due to the continued siege on Gaza”, and that this attack was planned and executed by “angry youths” as a result of Israel’s occupation of the land. Qanoon also argued, “The Zionist occupation bears the consequences of the anger and pressure experienced by our people because of the continued siege of the Gaza Strip.” While Qanoon denies any involvement by Hamas regarding the planning and execution of the attack, he’s quick to justify it.

Shortly after the incident, Prime Minister Netanyahu stated, “I commend the IDF unit that acted quickly and efficiently on the border with Gaza and prevented a terrorist infiltration of our territory…Hamas is responsible for all aggression emanating from the whole of Gaza. Israel will continue to act to thwart infiltrations of its territory and attacks on our citizens.”

All of this comes on the heels of an attack earlier in the week at the southern edge of the Gaza strip, when an armed Hamas operative, identified as Hani Abu Salah, infiltrated into Israel and opened fire on troops belonging to the IDF’s Golani Brigade. Salah was killed and a few Israeli’s received minor injuries.
