On September 14, a female IDF observer noticed a couple of suspects acting strange on the Lebanese side of the border of Israel and Lebanon. After further action was taken and an immediate investigation ensued, multiple firearms and magazines were found in their attempt to smuggle them to someone inside of Israel. After further review, there were approximately 40 pistols and extra magazines found in the baggage, primarily manufactured by GLOCK.

Private Adi Ben Naim took reporters through what happened, saying, “I saw a suspect approaching the fence and immediately realized that this was an unusual incident… I alerted the troops and directed them to the location. It was only after the incident that I realized that a very large weapon-smuggling attempt was thwarted. My job as a field observer is to identify what takes place in the field and alert my commanders; which is exactly what I did in this incident.”

At the close of the incident, one suspect was arrested on the Israeli side of the border and will be further questioned.
