Militants from the Gaza Strip fired incendiary balloons into Israel on Friday, resulting in airstrikes from the Israeli Air Force targeting multiple Hamas targets.

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) carried out retaliatory strikes on Hamas targets in Gaza on Friday after militants launched incendiary balloons into southern Israel. The IAF reportedly fired at a pair of targets, including a rocket launching pad and another structure belonging to the Iranian-backed terror proxy.

Hamas has launched explosive balloons and kites into Israel a number of times in the past, including recently, which have resulted in a number of fires. According to at least one report, a minimum of four fires were started on Friday from the balloons.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the airstrikes were in “response to continual launches of incendiary balloons from Gaza into Israel throughout the day.”

Friday’s events occurred just hours after Hezbollah militants in Lebanon launched 19 rockets at northern Israel, most of which were intercepted by Iron Dome.
