The IDF carried out strikes in the Gaza Strip on Sunday night killing a senior Hamas leader.
Initial reports claim the strikes were in response to Hamas terror activity in southern Gaza. Strikes were carried out on Sunday night with reports of an elite IDF unit entering the Gaza Strip.
The IDF carried out strikes on multiple sites which led to the exchange of fire on the border. Reports from Palestinian and Arab media claim five were killed in the strikes, including the deputy commander of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Nur Barakeh, and his aid. The IDF Spokesperson Unit confirmed Sunday “During IDF operational activity in the Gaza Strip an exchange of fire evolved.”
The IDF also refuted media reports that an IDF solider was kidnapped. It confirmed Sunday night “Contrary to reports, none of our soldiers were abducted during the operational activity that took place in Gaza.”
