Bahrain’s foreign ministry is planning to travel to Israel on Wednesday accompanied by US officials; This will be the first-ever commercial flight from Manama to Tel Aviv.
Bahrain’s first delegation to Israel is set to arrive in Tel Aviv on Wednesday led by Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani. He and his delegation will be accompanied by US officials who represent the National Security Council. US Special Representative for International Negotiations Avi Berkowitz will also be in attendance.
This visit follows the Israeli Parliament’s approval last week concerning the new diplomatic ties between the two countries. It will mark the first commercial flight from Manama to Tel Aviv. And as first reported by the Jerusalem Post regarding this flight, Berkowitz stated, “It’s the first of many. I look forward to tourists traveling back and forth with ease in the coming months and years.”
Bahrain is one of multiple countries to normalize its ties with Israel in recent weeks. Others include the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Sudan. Additionally, it’s believed that there are many others who are on the brink of following suit.
The Bahraini foreign minister will be meeting with many notable people including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
