The fire broke out on Friday but was brought under control before any serious injuries took place; Explosion said to have occurred.

A fire erupted following an explosion that took place at a petrochemical plant in southwestern Iran on Friday. The plant belongs to the Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company (BIPC), and at this time, the source of the explosion remains unknown. However, it occurred in the aromatics unit of the plant.

BIPC reported that its own firefighters, alongside other fire teams in the area were able to extinguish the fire before it became more serious. Only one minor injury was reported following the event.

The Islamic Republic faced a string of seemingly daily fire occurrences during the summertime, many of which still remain a mystery concerning the source. Whether or not Friday’s event is related cannot be known at this time.
