The Israeli Air Force conducts airstrikes near Damascus that targeted Iranian-backed militia, leaving at least 23 dead; Israeli military remains on high alert regarding an attack from Iran; Zilberman: the IDF “is prepared to respond harshly to further attacks if necessary.

After Israel’s retaliatory strikes that were carried out in the area of Damascus, Syria, on Tuesday night, the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) remains on high alert regarding a possible attack from Iran. In the wake of the Israeli strikes in response to the 4 missiles fired from Syria, a minimum of 23 people have died, primarily Iranian Quds Force personnel and Syrian Arab Army militants.

In preparation for a possible attack from Iran, air defense batteries in northern Israel have been reinforced. According to IDF Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Hidai Zilberman, all of the strikes carried out in Syria on Tuesday were done ‘within minutes’, and all of the locations were within 80 kilometers (49 miles) of Israel’s northern border.

The airstrikes did significant damage to machinery and weaponry such as air defense systems, military warehouses, and even the National Defense Building that is located at the Damascus International Airport and is the headquarters for the Quds Force.

“Zilberman would further add, “We will not let Iran entrench in Syria.” Additionally, he added that Israel “is prepared to respond harshly to further attacks if necessary. We will not accept an Iranian force near our borders, and will continue to work against it.”

Isaiah 17:1-3

The burden against Damascus.

“Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city,
And it will be a ruinous heap.
The cities of Aroer are forsaken;
They will be for flocks
Which lie down, and no one will make them afraid.
The fortress also will cease from Ephraim,
The kingdom from Damascus,
And the remnant of Syria;
They will be as the glory of the children of Israel,”
Says the Lord of hosts.
