Pro-Palestinian protests took place in Paris on Saturday during what was supposed to be an anti-racism gathering; Protestors began making antisemitic slurs at those who stood in opposition.

In the midst of what was supposed to be an anti-racism protest in France on Saturday, protesters could be heard yelling antisemitic statements at counter-protesters. These statements included remarks such as “dirty Jews.” They could also be seen holding signs that read, “Israel, laboratory of police violence.”

The protesters gathered in Paris’ Place de la République, originally to protest the death of a Malian Frenchman, Adama Traoré, dating back to 2016.

Reports indicate that some of the protesters that had assembled were wearing pro-Palestinian clothing. They were also holding signs that said, “Stop the massacres by Israel. Liberty and justice for Palestine.”

All of this follows on the heels of a tweet released last week by the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights which read, “The Israeli military trains US police in racist and repressive policing tactics, which systematically targets Black and Brown bodies.”

One pro-Israel organization called Crif, which primarily focuses on Jews throughout France, called out the double-standard being set by these protestors. They said, “There cannot be a fight against racism which directly or indirectly tolerates antisemitism in its ranks.”
