A newly developed artificial intelligence nurse in Tel Aviv is able to monitor multiple patients at the same time; This new system is being tested at Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The new ‘Super Nurse’ being assembled at Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv, Israel, is a project of artificial intelligence that can monitor multiple patients at once. This new machine is comprised of various software technology, sensors, and several different cameras. The components are supplied by manufacturers based in Israel.
After several years of research and seeking for a remedy to situations wherein there are far too many patients for the number of staff, Ahuva Weiss-Meili and her team believe they’ve found an answer in this ‘Super Nurse’ and currently the AI machine is monitoring over 20 patients during its test trial. There are sensors that monitor each patient’s pulse and blood pressure while the camera does exactly what you’d expect it to do…watch the patient.
Weiss-Meili communicated that the hospital has electronic records that date back nearly a decade and can and should be used for more effective research.
What makes this design so impressive is that it does far more than simply monitor the patient. This machine, through various algorithms in the software working in sync with the different sensors, is able to estimate the medical direction of a particular patient. This results in that patient getting extra care. It doesn’t end there. Weiss-Meili’s machine can also estimate if a patient is likely to return to the hospital for similar medical reasons in the future.
In an interview with ISRAEL21c, Weiss-Meili stated that “No doctor, no matter how good he or she is, would be able to look at all this data and gain immediate insight… AI testing will eventually be a part of all hospital admissions in the future.”
During this test phase, the Super Nurse machine takes all of the collected data and transfers it to a central viewing area for the hospital staff to review.
