Reports surfaced of an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire between Hamas and Israel on Thursday night following the recent two-day flare up of rocket attacks.

The Israel Air Force reported that it struck over 150 targets in the Gaza Strip since Wednesday evening when rocket attacks began. It’s strikes targeted “weapons storage, military compounds, training compounds, a building used by Hamas for military purposes, and terror cells.”

Over 180 rockets were fired at Israel with dozens of injuries and damages reported on southern communities in Israel. Around 30 of the rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome. Rockets hit Be’er Sheva on Thursday, the first rocket attack on the city since Operation Protective Edge in 2014.

The Israel Air Force on Thursday toppled a five-story building in northern Gaza in response to rocket attacks on Be’er Sheva. The IDF confirmed the attack was on the “Hamas’ interior security forces used the building for military purposes,” and that the terror organization “is responsible for all security operations carried out inside Gaza, and is considered to be an executive branch of Hamas’ political leadership.”

As with all terror from the Gaza Strip on Israel, the IDF warned Hamas “We are determined to secure the safety of Israelis, is on high alert, and prepared for a variety of scenarios. Hamas is responsible and bears the consequences for the ongoing events.”

The United States reiterated its support for Israel against Hamas. US State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert reported on Thursday “Overall, we condemn the launching of missile attacks into Israel and call for an end to the destructive violence. We’ve seen reports that 180 or so rocket attacks have taken place, shot from Gaza into Israel, and we fully support Israel’s right to defend itself and to take actions to prevent provocations of that nature.”
