Israelis and Jews around the globe commemorated Israel’s national Holocaust Remembrance Day Wednesday evening, in memory of the over 6 millions Jews killed during the Holocaust 70 years ago.

As each year, the Holocaust Memorial ceremony was held at Yad VaShem, Israel’s Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem. Prime Minister Netanyahu, Israeli President Reuven Rivilin were in attendance.

During the ceremony six Holocaust survivors, accompanied by their grandchildren, lit 6 candles, each candle representing 1 million of 6 million Jews killed during the Holocaust.

Thousands of Jewish youth groups and Jewish communities have been participating in the March of the Living in Poland, visiting locations and death camps through out the country. Several world leaders will participate in a ceremony held in Auschwitz tomorrow, the IDF sending a delegation each year to the death camp.

Two minutes of silence will be given at 10 am through out the entire state of Israel, each year sirens heard through out Israel, its population pausing and standing in silence. Ceremonies as well as educational programs are held through out the day in remembrance of the Holocaust.
