Iran announces advanced ״Ghadir״ radar system

Iran continues to advance military potential, announcing new radar system; Kerry in ongoing negotiations with Iran FM

Iran announced that is has deployed its improved long-range “Ghadir” radar system Saturday night. According to commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili, the advanced air defense system is used for “Discovering and tracking micro aerial vehicles” and that the radar system “is one of the special qualities of the Ghadir radar system.

The Ghadir system was domestically built and is able to detect aircraft up to 600 kilometers away and ballistic missiles as far as 1,100 kilometers away.

The advance in Iran’s military strength is just one of many in the past year, Iran focused on advancement of its military strength.

Iran continues to refuse to allow any military inspections as part of a final deal with world powers on its nuclear program, negotiations still ongoing following the announcement that an agreement would not be finalized by the designated June 30th deadline.

According to United States Secretary of State John Kerry, talks are progressing “genuinely”. Kerry entered his sixth day of negotiations with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zariff Sunday.

Kerry stated that, “We have in fact made genuine progress” adding however that, “we are not yet where we need to be on several of the most difficult issues… If we don’t have a deal and there is absolute intransigence and unwillingness to move on the things that are important for us, President Obama has always said we’re prepared to walk away.”
