IDF responds with artillery fire after Hezbollah denotes explosive targeting IDF armored vehicles; Israel residents near border warned to remain indoors
Hezbollah detonated a large explosive device on the border with Israel targeting IDF armored patrol vehicles near Mount Dov. The IDF responded to the attack with heavy artillery fire. The attack comes following IDF shelling near the Sheba Farms to “deter Hezbollah from planting explosives on the border” with Israel.
There were no injuries or damages reported.
IDF Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Moti Almoz stated that “ We have opened artillery fire and created a smoke screen to cover the area. The IDF is in control of the incident.”
The IDF and Northern HomeFront Command have warned residents of northern Israel to remain indoors until the situation clears.
Hezbollah has threatened Israel with retaliation for the killing of terrorist Samir Kuntar, the attacks leading to his death reportedly Israeli Air Force strikes. The IDF has been reported to have carried out numerous strikes on attempted missile transfers from Syria to Hezbollah, both Prime Minister Netanyahu and Israel’s Foreign Ministry Director Dor Gold confirming Israeli covert operations. Gold stated last week that “Israel has not and will not allow anyone to violate its sovereignty, nor will it allow the transfer of weapons that would undermine Israel’s air supremacy.”
