Much needed rain in north and south of Israel; Autumn temperatures to begin over weekend into next week
There was heavy rain and hail in northern Israel with light flooding in the south and north of Israel Wednesday, following a major dust and haze storm across Israel over the past week.
The dust storm caused high air pollution and high humidity amidst a heat wave since last week, the country in need of lower temperatures and rain. The dust storm lingered over Israel for a week’s time due to high temperatures and lack of wind. Air pollution was at a record high for the center of Israel and Jerusalem.
Forecasts are calling for lower temperatures as Israel enters autumn, rain to continue through the Galilee and Golan Heights into Wednesday night. Flash flood was reported in the Arava and Mitpze Ramon regions of the Negev Wednesday morning, with rivers in Israel’s south rising, causing minor flooding.
Residents in the Negev region have been warned following the floods with Israeli police on high alert.
